(Photo by Somporn Thapanachai)Passenger traffic at Suvarnabhumi airport rose to 2.26 million during the Songkran festival period this year, from April 5 to 17, the airport’s general manager Sirote Duangratana said on Wednesday. There were 1.84 million international travellers, up 5.5%, and around 420,000 domestic travellers, an increase of 24.79%. International flights were down during the period, by 1.65% to 9,116, compared to last year, but domestic flights rose 10.64% to 3,067 flights. The operator fo the Airport Rail Link reported that ridership during the Songkran festival rose by 16%.
